Russian Orthodox Church criticizes Vatican for seeking to spread Christianity

06.11.2025, 12:19

Alexander Shchipkov, Patriarch Kirill's (Gundyaev) deputy at the World Russian People's Council, published his latest opus on the Moscow Patriarchate's website titled “The Philosophy of Vladimir Putin's Complexity.”

This was reported by Christians Against War.

Shchipkov writes, "Putin is prepared, based on the philosophy of complexity, to outline the contours of a new concerted world order in which Russia and the BRICS countries may assume the role of system-building players."

In his stream of consciousness, Shchipkov also critiques the Vatican for its desire to spread Christianity. He asserts that "the Catholic Church, inclined towards globalism, has incorporated the concept of ‘peripheral theology’ into its diplomatic strategy. By strengthening ties with countries on the 'periphery' of the world, the Vatican is engaging in the struggle for the Global South amid the gradual decentralization of the world. These efforts take the form of religious proselytism, which serves as a 'soft power' of Westernization and ultimately promotes Euro-Atlantic strategies."
