The armed aggression of the Russian Federation has damaged more than 1,200 objects of cultural infrastructure, including more than 500 cultural monuments, in Ukraine.

"First of all, we are talking about the preservation of those cultural institutions that were damaged. These are more than 1,200 objects of cultural infrastructure, including more than 500 cultural monuments. It is important for us to preserve them this winter," Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Oleksandr Tkachenko said during the nationwide news telethon.

At the same time, Tkachenko said that the issue of restoration of damaged or destroyed objects of cultural infrastructure is being discussed with Western partners.

"When we talk to our colleagues in the West about supporting recovery, they have a question as to how appropriate it is during the war. We say that it is appropriate," the government official emphasized.

He regretted that budget funds could not be used for reconstruction at the moment. However, Tkachenko noted that funds for such purposes come from Western partners and donors, including Ukrainian ones.

Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, more than 200,000 objects of the cultural heritage of Ukraine have been evacuated to safe places.
