On the evening of February 21, 2024, it became known that the clergyman of the Donetsk diocese of the OCU and the rector of the Ascension Church in the village of Kamyanka near Mariupol, on the temporarily occupied territory of the Russian Federation, Archimandrite Khrystofor Khrimli was released from illegal imprisonment and deported from the territory of the Russian Federation to Georgia.

This was reported by the "Orthodox Ukraine" (Ukrayina Pravoslavna).

A priest of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine was arrested by the occupation authorities in September 2023 and accused of "anti-Russian, extremist support of the Ukrainian authorities and armed formations, as well as inciting hatred and hostility on national and religious grounds." After the "sentence" of the occupation "court," he was forcibly taken to the Rostov region of the Russian Federation, where he was illegally detained until today.

The fact of the release of Archimandrite Khrystofor Khrimli was confirmed by the Metropolitan of Donetsk and Mariupol Sergiy.

"Half an hour ago, I was informed that he had already crossed the Georgian border. Thank God! And I thank the Ukrainian human rights commissioner Mr. Lubintsev - this happened thanks to his work," said Bishop Sergiy.
