Scholars discussed in Lviv how the church can overcome conflicts and restore public confidence

The event was organized by the Institute of Religion and Society (UCU), which holds similar conferences since 1997 – from the beginning of its foundation.

 

More than 50 delegates from Ukraine, Poland, and Belarus - representatives of various humanitarian areas: anthropologists, political scientists, linguists, theologians, sociologists, cultural historians, religious scholars on April 28-29 took part in the XIX International Scientific Conference for students and young scientists. The theme of the conference “Religion and global challenges of the era: historical experience, the reality of today, prospects for the future.” The event took place in Lviv, UCU.

For two days, young scholars discussed how to overcome religious barriers, fundamentalism and “hybrid” war, whether the church can have an influence on restoring public confidence, which is a religious experience in overcoming conflicts and healing injuries, remaining a Christian in a post-modern era of post-truth.

 

The reports were made by Liliana Hentosh, candidate of historical sciences, the author of numerous books about Metropolitan Sheptytsky, Ph.D. Olena Panych, expert in historical and religious studies, Archpriest George Kovalenko, rector of the Open Orthodox University of St. Sophia the Holy Wisdom, Myroslav Marynovych, director of the Institute of Religion and Society.
