The Senior Priest of the Patriarchal Cathedral of St. Volodymyr in Kyiv, Protopriest Borys Tabachek, addressed Yulia Tymoshenko with a request to stop the hunger strike and find other ways of protest.
“I was sad and worried to learn about the conditions in which you are kept in the Kachaniv prison and about your hunger strike to protest against the physical and moral humiliation. I am concerned over the fact that your hunger strike has been going on for more than ten days and the authorities show no reaction to it. I know that your condition requires specialized treatment and proper conditions. Therefore, I address you as a pastor and confessor with a request to stop the hunger strike and find other ways of protest,” reads the statement of the priest passed to UNIAN.
“The life and health of every person is a gift of God which is to be preserved. Remember that for millions of Ukrainians you are not only an outstanding politician, a courageous woman, true patriot of Ukraine, but also a person with whom they associate hope for a better life. Therefore, I am calling on You not to risk your life,” said Tabachek.
He assured Tymoshenko: “I personally and the clergy and parishioners of the Patriarchal Cathedral of St. Volodymyr in Kyiv pray constantly for You and Your health and Your family.”
