“Investment and Construction Group” Company refuses to demolish two floors of new buildings on Honchar street, 17-23, according to the Cabinet’s decision. It is fraught with the exception of St Sophia of Kyiv from UNESCO World Heritage Site.

It was reported by Gazeta.ua.

“Investment and Construction Group” considers illegal the city council decision, which obliges the developer to demolish the two-story building. The company intends to sue the State Inspectorate of Architecture and Construction regarding the cancellation of the license for construction of the residential complex named Fresco Sofia located on Honchar street, 17-23.

It should be noted that St. Sophia was to be excluded from the list of UNESCO because of the construction at the address of Honchar street, 17-23. The building should not exceed 27 m of height. Now its height is 38 m. In the autumn the monitoring committee is to visit Kyiv. It will scan all the construction sites maintained in the buffer zone of St. Sofia. If by that time the violation is not eliminated, the UNESCO will again raise the issue of putting St Sofia on the “black list” at the next regular session of the international organization.
