Stolen Icons Found

20.08.2002, 22:11

Patrolmen of the Solomenskyi district police department detained two inhabitants of the Kyiv region who were attempting to sell 17 icons that had been stolen the day before from a 19th-century church in the village of Lubymivka in the Kyiv region. This news was reported by the information agency InfoNews on 20 August 2002.

The thieves had already sold the two most valuable icons, but Fr. Victor of the local church believes that the police will find them. The priest is happy that the thieves did not desecrate the altar where the icons were kept. The icons that have been found will be returned to the Lubymivka church immediately after the investigation is over. Source: www.i-news.org
