There is no Kyivan Patriarchate church in Ukraine, Metropolitan Pavel (Lebid), a deputy of the Kyiv City Council representing the Party of Regions and superior of the Kyiv Cave Monastery, said in an interview to Weekly.ua.

In answer to a question about the activity of the synod’s committee of the UOC-MP on the dialogue with UOC-Kyivan Patriarchate and the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church, he said: “There is a political party bearing such name.”

“Negotiations were held but proved fruitless when it came to the question of canonicity. I can see no point in negotiating with these people. Only admission in the church of children who broke away,” said Metropolitan Pavlo.

Metropolitan Pavlo of Vyshhorod and Chornobyl has been appointed Metropolitan Volodymyr's assistant of in the government of the Kyivan Metropolitanate and is a candidate for the position of the head of UOC-MP.
