Ukrainian deputies of the Svoboda [Freedom] Association, Oleksandr Sych, Ruslan Martsinkiv and Ruslan Zelyk registered in the Supreme Council a bill envisaging legislative prohibition of abortions. So reported the web site of Svoboda.

According to the authors of the bill, the rate of abortions in Ukraine is the highest in EU. It is 21.1 per 1000 women of the fertile age, 45.8 per 100 pregnancies, 84 per 100 deliveries. The results of abortions are even more alarming: a high rate of illnesses which often result in infertility, death as well as numerous moral and legal issues.

“The Ukrainian law does not prohibit abortions within 12-22 weeks of pregnancy. But the law does not take into account the fact that according to a number of scholarly medical research works, an aborted child goes through the same suffering as an adult tortured to death. In addition, abortions have harmful consequences for the mental and physical health of all the concerned persons,” noted R. Zelyk.
