30.11.2011, 10:48

The Uman Synagogue, which was once attended by Rabbi Nakhman, will be returned to the ownership of the local Jewish community.

The Uman Synagogue, which was once attended by Rabbi Nakhman, will be returned to the local Jewish community. This promise was given by the mayor of Uman and governor of  Cherkasy Oblast, who has recently visited Israel.

In 2007, the territory, where the architectural monument is located, was illegally privatized.

On December 6, a court session is to be held where the illegitimacy of the transfer of the plot is to be confirmed.

According to ІzRus, the return of the synagogue to the Jewish community has become possible thanks to the interference of the Administration of the President of Ukraine. On November 30 and December 1, a visit of Viktor Yanukovych to Israel is planned.
