Synod of Kyivan Patriarchate Conducts Rotations
On 23 January, the Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kyivan Patriarchate was held under the headship of Patriarch Filaret in Kyiv.
Metropolitan Yevsevii (Politylo) of Rivne and Ostrih has been dismissed from the position of the head of the eparchy and membership in the synod due to his health condition. The synod also awarded him with an order for his work.
Bishop Ilarion (Protsyk) of Chernohiv and Nizhyn was consecrated archbishop and appointed head of the Rivne Eparchy and member of the Synod.
Bishop Yevstratii (Zoria) was consecrated archbishop and appointed head of the Chernihiv Eparchy.
The Synod also appointed Vicars of Volyn and Lviv Eparchies.
Bishop Matfei (Shevchuk) was dismissed from the position of the head of the Drohobych-Sambir Eparchy and appointed Bishop of Volodymyr-Volynskyi.
Superior of the Lviv Monastery of John Chrysostom, Hieromonach Yulian (Hatala) was appointed Bishop of Horodok and Vicar of Lviv Eparchy.
Bishop Mykhail (Bondarchuk) of Dubno was appointed Bishop of Drohobych and Sambir.
Archbishop Iziaslav of Zhytomyr and Ovruch was appointed temporary member of the Synod.
The synod also gave its blessing to the opening of a women’s monastery in Dnipropetrovsk.
