Synod of the UOC-MP asks Zelensky to "stop religious hostility in society"

12.05.2022, 15:30

On May 12, the Holy Synod of the UOC-MP appealed to President of Ukraine Zelensky with a request to take the necessary steps" to deter lawlessness on religious grounds."

This is reported by the Information and Educational Department of the UOC-MP.

Members of the Synod, in particular, expressed concern about some draft laws in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and decisions of local self-government bodies in various regions to ban or restrict the activities of local religious communities of the UOC-MP.

The UOC-MP also complains about the local authorities, who allegedly activated and encourages the transition of communities to the OCU from the UOC-MP.

"The members of the Synod state that all these facts are the result of a false religious policy during the presidency of Petro Poroshenko and the destructive ideology of the so-called Orthodox Church of Ukraine," the document says.

The Synod, therefore, asks President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to intervene in this situation.
