The 450th Anniversary of Peresopnytsia Gospel to Be Marked at State Level

The Supreme Council of Ukraine passed a resolution to mark at the state level the 450th anniversary of the Peresopnytsia Gospel.

KYIV – The Supreme Council of Ukraine passed a resolution to mark at the state level the 450^th anniversary of the Peresopnytsia Gospel. On May 12, 2010, all 382 deputies who participated in the voting voted for the decision, reports the Institute of Religious Freedom.

Resolution 4391 envisages marking of the event at the state level in August 2011. It is proposed to announce 2011 the year of the Ukrainian First Book. 

The Cabinet of Ministers is to set up an organizing committee to prepare and hold the celebratory events. The parliament decided to make sure the state budget for 2011 includes funds for the celebrations.

The fulfillment of the resolution is to be monitored by the Committee on Matters of Culture and Spirituality of the Supreme Council.
