Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Vasyl Bodnar visited Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew accompanied by the Consul General of Ukraine in Istanbul.
This is reported by UNN citing Orthodox Times media.
"The Deputy Minister conveyed to the Ecumenical Patriarch the wishes of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. Subsequently, they discussed the schedule of the visit that the Ecumenical Patriarch will make to Kyiv in August,” the report says.
The meeting was also attended by elder Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon and Chief Secretary Gregory.
Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew plans to visit Ukraine during the Independence Day celebrations in 2021. He stated this on November 30 last year after meeting with Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.
Earlier in October 2020, the President of Ukraine and the First Lady met with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and invited him to Ukraine.
