Head of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU) Metropolitan Epifaniy met with mothers, wives, and sisters of the "Azovstal" fighters who are still in Russian captivity on July 14, 2023.
This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv Metropolia of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (OCU).
The mothers and wives of the defenders shared their pain with Metropolitan Epifaniy, which they are experiencing due to the captivity of their loved ones, our finest sons of Ukraine. They also asked for increased prayers for the captured servicemen.
The Head of the OCU expressed his support to the relatives of the defenders of the Motherland and wished them strength to endure these trials and eventually rejoice in the reunification and victory of Ukraine.
"Your husbands, sons, and brothers are the modern-day heroes. The defenders of 'Azovstal' have become a symbol of resistance and Ukrainian resilience. From the first day of the captivity of our defenders, we have been praying for them to God, and we will continue to pray. The main thing is to have faith and hope, and the Lord will undoubtedly help," said Metropolitan Epifaniy.
During the meeting, the participants also touched upon various aspects of Russia's war against Ukraine and the need to continue consolidating efforts to liberate our soldiers from captivity.
