The Head of the UGCC, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, conveyed his gratitude to Cardinal Stanisław Dziwisz, Archbishop Emeritus of Krakow, for his words about the destructive ideology of the "Russian world" and his call to exert all possible efforts to end the war in Ukraine, which he articulated as a Papal envoy during the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the coronation of the Czestochowa Icon of the Mother of God.

This was reported by the Information Department of the UGCC.

"I would like to express great gratitude for the words spoken in the sermon during the 300th anniversary of the coronation of the image of the Czestochowa Mother of God, about the tragedy brought about by the idolatrous ideology of the so-called 'Russian world,' which robs our brothers and sisters in Ukraine of their land, the right to life, their language, and culture, which sows death and destruction, and generates fear of an even greater catastrophe.

Your Eminence's unequivocal statement as the special envoy of the Holy Father during the ceremony, which gathered so many faithful, was a great surprise and a display of the significant support you have provided to the Ukrainian people with your authority, who are defending their own independence and territorial integrity," wrote His Beatitude Sviatoslav in a letter.

Cardinal Dziwisz, as the Papal envoy, led the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the coronation of the Czestochowa Icon of the Mother of God, Queen of Podlasie and Mother of Unity, which took place in Poland on August 15th, in the sanctuary of Czestochowa in the Siedlce diocese.

"We cannot come to terms with what is happening in Europe, in the eyes of the whole world, with the tragedy aimed at depriving our brothers and sisters in Ukraine of their land, their right to life, their language, and culture, sowing death and destruction," Cardinal Dziwisz said in his sermon.
"Cain’s hand must be stopped," he emphasized.
