On February 26, 2024, His Beatitude Sviatoslav solemnly announced the beginning of the beatification process of Blessed Lubomyr. The proclamation took place during a thanksgiving prayer service on the occasion of the conclusion of the Year of Blessed Lubomyr on the 91st anniversary of his birth.

This was reported by the Information Department of the UGCC.

The Decree of Proclamation states that for six years after the passing into eternity of Blessed Lubomyr Husar, the power of his words and spirit serves people as support and guidance in their daily lives, especially during this dreadful war.

On May 31, 2017, Patriarch Lubomyr fell asleep in the Lord in Kyiv, and on June 5, his body was buried in the crypt of the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ.

"Since then, God's people have begun to show special spiritual reverence for Lubomyr Husar, not only praying for his repose but also seeking his intercession, testifying to the glory of his holiness through numerous entries in the books of remembrance placed near his grave. These entries indicate signs, graces, and healings received," said His Beatitude Sviatoslav in the Decree.

The investigation into the beatification and canonization of Blessed Lubomyr began in response to numerous appeals from individuals and communities of the faithful, as well as in view of the spontaneous recognition of his holiness among a considerable portion of God's people, which prompts Christians to pray through the bright memory of Lubomyr Husar.

The applicant for this case from the government (ex officio) is the Kyiv Archeparchy of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.

Father Pavlo Lohota has been appointed by the Head of the UGCC as the postulator in the case of the beatification and canonization of Blessed Lubomyr through a separate decree.
