The Head of the UGCC thanked Europe for solidarity amid the EU accession talks

The Head of the UGCC called the beginning of negotiations for Ukraine's accession to the European Union good news.

He expressed gratitude to the European countries for their solidarity in a traditional video address, the Information Department of the UGCC reports.

"For Ukrainian society, weary and afflicted by the woes of war, feeling the solidarity of European countries was very important," he noted.

"Obviously, the European dream of our people still has a long way to go. But these open doors are today a moral support for us, a comfort that in our struggle for freedom, Ukrainians are not left alone facing the stronger Russian aggressor. We are grateful to the peoples of Europe for their solidarity!" added the Head of the UGCC.

As explained by His Beatitude Sviatoslav, by a wonderful will of God, the invitation for Ukraine to continue its path toward joining the family of European nations coincided with another session of the Permanent Synod of Bishops of the UGCC, which was held in Chernivtsi.

"And here in Chernivtsi, our bishops from America, Germany, and Poland brought good news for the Ukrainian people — they confirmed what the leaders of the European Union said — the peoples of Europe stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine," emphasized the Head of the UGCC.
