The Heavenly Hundred Heroes were commemorated at the Papal Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore

Feb 21, 2021 at the Papal Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore next to the first and main icon of the Christian world - the Blessed Mother, “The Salvation of the Roman People”, bishop Iryney Bilyk, Canonic of The Papal Basilica of Saint Mary Major served the Hierarchal Divine Liturgy and Panakhyda to commemorate the Heavenly Hundred Heroes.

Among the participants were Fr. Yakiv Shumylo, OSBM, Mykhailo Lysyk, the candle bearer at the basilica and numerous of Ukrainian and Italian believers. All the present lit up candles of memory for those who gave their lives for independent and prosperous Ukraine.

Bishop Iryney emphasized that in the seventh anniversary since the shooting of peaceful protesters at Independence Square in Kyiv we are praying for those innocent who were killed during the Revolution of Dignity. Let us ask the Blessed Virgin Mary with the intercession of the Heavenly Hundred heroes and our deceased relatives, so that our prayers for the better future of Ukraine are heard with God”.

At the end of the prayerful commemoration of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes bishop Iryney gave everyone his hierarchal blessing.
