The Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Metropolitan Epipfaniy of Kyiv and all Ukraine, was included in the official diptych of the Patriarchate of Alexandria.
This was announced by Archimandrite Romanos Anastasiades of the Ecumenical Patriarchate on his Facebook page, according to Spiritual Front of Ukraine.
"Recording of Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and all Ukraine in the diptych of the Patriarchate of Alexandria in 2021," he wrote, posting a photo from the diptych.
The inclusion of the name of the Primate of the OCU in the diptych means that the Church of Alexandria recognizes the Orthodox Church of Ukraine as autocephalous on an equal basis with the other 14 Local Orthodox Churches. The Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine is not and cannot be on this list, because it is under the jurisdiction of the Moscow Patriarchate.
As it has been reported, on November 11, 2019, the Alexandrian Orthodox Church recognized the OCU.
