This was stated in an interview with TASS by Vladimir Legoyda, chairman of the Synodal Department for Church-Society and Media Relations of the Russian Orthodox Church. He also said that the Churches of Greece, Cyprus and Alexandria “did not make legal decisions on the recognition of the OCU.”
"We cannot say that the Churches of Greece, Cyprus and Alexandria recognized the OCU. They did not make any legitimate decisions on this issue, only the declarations of the primates. I know that many clergy and episcopate of these churches do not agree with the recognition of schismatics, they sympathize with the Ukrainians, who, through the "works" of the Phanar, suffered a lot from extremists for conniving with the authorities," he stated.
Legoyda also added:
"We don't want to suspend relations with the Greek world and in turn, they don't want to destroy ties with us. Patriarch Kirill, speaking about the situation, stressed that "this is the implementation of a very specific plan that aims to tear Russia away from the Greek world, and the Greek world away from Russia." With God's help, these plans will not be fulfilled."
