The Synod of Bishops of the UGCC in Ukraine has elected a delegate for the protection of minors

The Synod of Bishops of the UGCC in Ukraine held on November 19-20, 2021 in Lviv, elected Fr. Ihor Boyko as a delegate of the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC in Ukraine for the protection of minors.

According to the UGCC Information Department, the Synod's decision was made to protect minors and helpless individuals from sexual abuse and to implement the requirements of Pope Francis' apostolic letter "You are the Light for the World".

Father Igor was elected a delegate for three years. This is stated in the decree of the head of the UGCC, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, dated December 7, 2021.

The duties of the delegate of the Council of Bishops in Ukraine for minors include coordination of cooperation between the authorized representatives of dioceses and exarchates for the protection of minors and helpless persons, cooperation with the Center for the Dignity of the child of the UCU, preparation of the annual report to the Synod of Bishops on the situation regarding the protection of minors and helpless persons in the UGCC in Ukraine. It is also responsible for submitting proposals to improve the protection of minors and prevent sexual abuse, in particular by reporting the needs or shortcomings to the commissioners in dioceses and exarchates.
