Archimandrite Cyril Hovorun, in an interview with Saken Aimurzaev on the DetectorUA YouTube channel, explained why the Georgian Orthodox Church has a positive attitude towards the OCU.

"They have the same experience as we have — the experience of occupying 20% of Georgia by Russia. They perceive Russia as an aggressor country. And of course, they also understand that the Church, unfortunately, has become an instrument of this aggression. And they understand this better than any other church, any other people or our neighbor, why it was necessary to create a local Church of Ukraine. The reasons why the Georgian episcopate has not yet decided to recognize it are the same as in most churches, they simply do not want an escalation of tension within the Orthodox world," the Archimandrite said.

Archimandrite Cyril Hovorun is one of the leading Ukrainian theologians. He is a theologian and professor at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. His books are published mainly in English, and he also lectures at many Western universities. He is a clergyman of the Russian Orthodox Church.
