Refusal to perform burial services for the deceased ATO soldiers constitutes a direct violation of the church canons by way of trading on the theme of “fratricidal war.”

Deputy Director of the Research Institute of Ukrainian Ministry of Education of Ukraine, church historian Arsen Zinchenko made this statement in live broadcast at Obozrevatel.

"The majority of Moscow clergymen indulge invaders, avoid calling the aggression its own name and have gone in for direct violation of church canons, refusing to perform burial service for our heroes who have died in this war,” he said.

According to the expert, the UOC (MP) “boldly speculates and says it is a “fratricidal war.” Wait, were the Ukrainian tanks sent in Tambov or in Kaluga? The invaders came who do not recognize the Ukrainian nation and –and the significant part of the UOC (MP) clergymen indulge to it.”

Commenting on the refusal to perform burial services for the soldiers killed in the war in Donbas, Zinchenko said: “They are well aware they are servants and agents of the Kremlin. Therefore, this is not the case of fulfilling a Christian duty, it is about preserving Moscow's rule in Ukraine. And in this case they fulfill their function.”
