Tribute to memory of a volunteer soldier paid at a church in Paris

In Paris, the singer’s photos were displayed in the Cathedral of Volodymyr the Great - on Saint Germaine Boulevard, the Ukrainian quarter. Those who knew “Myth” (his call sign) personally, followed his destiny or just heard arias he performed, came and brought flowers.

In Kyiv, people came to the monument on Maidan Nezalezhnosti Square carrying lamps and could not hide the tears. According to the hero’s friends, he is to be buried at Lviv’s Lychakiv cemetery.

As previously reported, journalist Yuri Butusov was the first to announce on June 29 that a famous opera singer Vasyl Slipak was killed. Spokesman for the Presidential Administration on ATO issues Andriy Lysenko confirmed the death of Slipak.

“It happened on June 29, near the village of Luhanske, Bakhmut district of Donetsk region,” he wrote on his Facebook page. The body of the deceased was taken to the morgue of Bakhmut.

Vasyl Slipak was a student of Lviv Choir “Dudaryk” and graduated from Lviv Conservatory. Before the war in the East of Ukraine, he had worked for 19 years at the Paris Opera, he was a world-renowned singer, one of the best baritones in the world. But with the onset of Russian aggression he came back to defend Ukraine.

Funeral service will begin on Friday, July 1st at 11.00 at Saints Peter and Paul Garrison Church (11 Teatralnaya street) in Lviv. From there, the funeral procession will go to Lychakiv cemetery, where at approximately 12:30 the funeral service will start. The new hero will be buried at honorary burial field №76.
