U.S. Ambassador Meets With Patriarch Volodymyr

On September 1, the head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Volodymyr, met with U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine John Tefft in the Kyiv Cave Monastery.

On September 1, the head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP), Metropolitan Volodymyr, met with U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine John Tefft in the Kyiv Cave Monastery. The official inquired about the modern life of Orthodoxy in Ukraine, relations between the UOC and other Orthodox and non-Orthodox denominations. In addition, the parties discussed the prospects of establising joint projects between Ukrainian and American Orthodox Churches.

John Tefft told Metropolitan Volodymyr about an exhibition of the architecture of Chicago, which opened in his residence. The exhibition is notable for the fact that part of it is dedicated to the architecture of Orthodox churches of Chicago.

The meeting was also attended by the Secretary of the head of the UOC Bishop Oleksandr (Drabynko) of Pereiaslav-Khmelnytskyi, a representative of the Orthodox Church in the United States, Archimandrite Zakhei (Wud), protopriest Vitalii Kosovskyi, and embassy workers.
