For theSeventh Charitable Evening of the Ukrainian Catholic University in Kyiv, to take place on December 6, 2014, Crimean Tatar artists donated their art works. Proceeds from the sale of these works will create a special scholarship for talented youth from among the Crimean Tatars.

"We understand that the Crimean Tatars are in a very dire situation. We believe that they are an integral part of the current Ukrainian political nation and possess a Ukrainian identity,” commented the First Vice-Rector of Ukrainian Catholic University,” Taras Dobko. “Identity is not an abstract concept, it realizes itself through interaction among people, through the desire to exist within a certain circle of people.”

The Vice-Rector emphasized that that this will not only be an opportune moment for Crimean Tatars, but also for other students – through the interaction with their peers, other students will be able to learn more about these people. Initiators of the project included Crimean Tatar artists: Rustem Skibin, Elmira Seyit Ametov, Mamut Churha, Eldar Husenov, and others, who donated to the University their own art creations from ceramics, artistic embroidery, and a variety of accessories.

The Crimean Tatar , the founder of Crimea SOS, Alim Aliyev emphasizes that UCU may well be the only educational institution with no corruption. “The professional lecturers here provide a good and competative education, so necessary in our complicated times,” stated Alim Aliyev.

The Ukrainian Catholic University has a lot of experience in recruiting students from all of Ukraine. For example, almost 50% of the students enrolled in the Master’s Program in Journalism are from beyond the borders of Galicia. Also, hundreds of students from various regions of Ukraine participate in various social actions and short-term programs offered by the university.
