On December 15, 2015 one hundred twenty military chaplains of the UGCC who have performed and now perform their service in the ATO zone will receive the Honorary Award “Military Chaplain Cross” from the hands of Patriarch Sviatoslav.

 

On December 15, 2015 one hundred twenty military chaplains of the UGCC who have performed and now perform their service in the ATO zone will receive the Honorary Award “Military Chaplain Cross” from the hands of Patriarch Sviatoslav.

 

 

According to the Regulation, the Honorary Award “Military Chaplain Cross” is conferred on for commitment and faithfulness in the chaplain’s ministry at the Armed Forces and other military units of Ukraine. The package also includes award marks of distinction and a certificate of awarding.

 

Priests who have received the honorary distinction can use it in accordance with canonic rule 388 of the Code of Canons of the Eastern Churches. The Honorary Award “Military Chaplain Cross” shall be worn as an archpriest cross. It has been reported by the Information Department of the UGCC.

 

Background:

On October 3, 2006, Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church established the Department of the Patriarchal Curia of the UGCC for Pastoral service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This Department aims at setting up a standing pastoral care system for the military servicemen who are the UGCC faithful across Ukraine, and for coordination of this activity.

The Department chairman shall apply for awarding the Honorary Award “Military Chaplain Cross.”
