Patriarch Sviatoslav (Shevchuk) of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church warns of excessive trust in those who say that the war can be stopped quickly.

He talked about it in an interview with Fakty media outlet. "I am often asked: "What should I do in order not to get disappointed?” I answer: “Do not indulge in vain hopes”. There are no easy answers to the complicated questions of our existence. Do not believe the one who tells you that you can quickly end the war. He cannot. Do not believe that someone will take some magic card out of the sleeve and say: “We will stop the aggressor.” This is not true," said His Beatitude Svyatoslav.

The Primate of the UGCC believes that it is impossible to stop the aggressor and pacify him by making concessions. "Unfortunately, this is not fully understood by the players of global politics. You can't negotiate with the aggressor. He can only be stopped. One should not talk to a criminal, but grab him by his hand to prevent the crime. We must understand that the fate of the country is in our hands. However, one should be patient and realize that there are no easy solutions to complicated issues," said the Patriarch.
