UGCC in Ohio celebrates its 50th anniversary

“50 years have passed since the day when the cornerstone was laid and consecrated in the basis of the structure of the temple of the UGCC dedicated to St. Andrew the First Called, where the name of the Lord has been praised for half a century and the Holy Gospel has been preached for the salvation of souls,” reads the message of the church administration.

The Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church of St. Andrew in Parma, Ohio, celebrated the half-century anniversary of its founding.

According to the church’s Facebook page, the celebrations took place on October 7-8.

“50 years have passed since the day when the cornerstone was laid and consecrated in the basis of the structure of the temple of the UGCC dedicated to St. Andrew the First Called, where the name of the Lord has been praised for half a century and the Holy Gospel has been preached for the salvation of souls,” reads the message of the church administration.

The ceremony was attended by the clergy of various denominations and parishioners. In addition to delicious Ukrainian dishes, the guests enjoyed the performance of St Andrew church choir, the poetry recitation performed by Maria Petryna and Bohdan Harmatiy and the performance of the group "Accord".

In his speech Fr Igor Kasiyan, the parish rector, congratulated the audience on the jubilee of the church and extended his sincere gratitude for the significant contribution to the life of the church.

 

In addition, Martha Lyshynetska, Chair of the Ukrainian Allied Organizations, congratulated the parish on the occasion of the 50th anniversary, and handed over a letter of gratitude “For outstanding and conscientious work for the good of the Ukrainian Church and community.”
