On 17 October, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) convened a meeting at the Estonian Parliament (Riigikogu) to address the situation of Ukrainian children affected by the war. The meeting included Father Roman Kikh, a priest of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church and pastor to the Ukrainian community in Estonia.

The meeting was opened by Lauri Hussar, the Chairman of the Riigikogu, who emphasized, “The deportation of children is genocide that must be stopped.” The discussion included representatives from the Estonian government, members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Ukrainian officials, doctors, psychologists, and experts who are exploring practical ways to support children, ranging from medical rehabilitation to psychological assistance.
The event focused on finding practical solutions to help Ukrainian children affected by the war recover both physically and mentally. During the meeting, attendees also watched the documentary film Stolen Childhood, which highlights the consequences of war on Ukrainian children.
"It is very important for the voices of the clergy to be heard at high-level international meetings. Healing is not just a physical or psychological process; it is also a deeply spiritual journey," Father Roman Kikh stated on his Facebook page.
