"Ukraine experiences a shortage of restoration experts," - Karandeyev

There's an insufficient number of restoration experts in Ukraine for the preparation of restoration projects or for carrying out conservation and emergency repair work.

Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Policy Rostyslav Karandeyev made this statement during the International Forum "Creative Ukraine" 2024, as reported by Ukrinform.

"The systematic destruction by the enemy of our cultural heritage objects has raised the task of preparing restoration projects or carrying out conservation and emergency repair work. The question arises: who will do this? Designers? Specialists in the restoration field? Restorers themselves? But there aren't enough of them," Karandeyev said.

He noted that the ministry is implementing new educational programs in a wide range of educational institutions to train specifically those specialties that are needed today and will be needed for a long time. Karandeyev added that among these are restorers and artistic restorers.

The Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Policy emphasized that professional and modern education is the only way to address the current needs of both society and cultural sector workers.

It's worth adding that in Ukraine, in 1946, objects of cultural infrastructure were damaged or destroyed due to full-scale Russian aggression..
