Ukraine handed over five more captured Muslims to Russia

19.04.2023, 09:50

The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, refused to meet with released prisoners.

During the latest exchange, Ukraine handed over five more Muslim captives to Russia. This was reported by LB.ua, citing the Coordination Headquarters on the Treatment of Prisoners of War.

On the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, Ukraine initiated the return of all Muslim captives from both sides. However, there was no response from Russia: not a single Ukrainian Muslim prisoner of war was returned.

"Moreover, in the homeland, the returned Russian Muslims were not received very hospitably and with due respect. In particular, Ramzan Kadyrov refused to meet with the released prisoners and stated that everyone who was captured must return to the front line. This once again demonstrates the aggressive state's contemptuous attitude towards its military personnel," the statement said.
