Ukraine Honors Memory of Victims of Holodomor

The Public Organization Committee on Honoring the Memory of the Victims of the Holodomor Genocide of 1932-1933 published an address on honoring the memory of the victims of the Holodomor. The committee called the citizens to light candles of memory to honor the millions of the victims of the Holodomor.

"The participants of the Public Organizational Committee call all people of good will, regardless of their citizenship and confession, everyone who shares the pain and sorrow of the Ukrainian nation, to light a candle of memory for the souls of those who fell victims to the Holodomor," reads the address of the committee, istpravda.com.ua reports.

Yevhen Sverstiuk, a representative of the committee, stressed that one should not politicize the honoring of memory of the victims of the  Holodomor. "Lighting a candle of memory, commemorating in churches the people who were buried without burial services – one should not politicize these actions. We want to wake the spirit of memory in the society," he stressed .

The Day of Remembrance of Victims of the Holodomor and Political Repressions is marked in Ukraine annually on the fourth Saturday of November.
