Ukraine institutes a case over occupier's searches at the homes of Jehovah's Witnesses in Yalta

The Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol instituted criminal proceedings over a series of searches by the so-called security forces of the invaders in the premises of possible members of the religious organization Jehovah's Witnesses.

According to Ukrinform, this is reported by the press service of the department in a telegram.

"Under the procedural leadership of the Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, criminal proceedings have been initiated over the fact that the" security forces " of the occupying state conducted a number of illegal searches in the premises of possible members of the religious organization Jehovah's Witnesses on March 11, 2021. Criminal proceedings were initiated under Part 2 of Article 162 (violation of the inviolability of housing) of the Criminal Code," the report says.

It is specified that for such illegal actions, the penalty is provided in the form of imprisonment for up to five years.

The pre-trial investigation will be carried out by the GUNP in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.

Separately, the Prosecutor's office of the Autonomy clarified that since the beginning of the occupation of the peninsula, the activities of the religious organization Jehovah's Witnesses in Crimea had been illegally banned, its supporters do not have the right to gather and are subject to systematic illegal criminal prosecution.

As reported, on Thursday, March 11, in the occupied Crimea, nine homes of Jehovah's Witnesses members were raided.
