The Religious Administration of Muslims in Ukraine denies supporting the militants of the "Islamic state" (ISIS). The incidents with their detention on the territory of the country are occasional.
This was stated by the Mufti of the Religious Administration of Muslims of Ukraine UMMA Said Ismagilov, reports Depo.ua citing RBC-Ukraine.
According to him, there are no Muslim communities in the country that support the ideas and fighters of ISIS.
"If it is not the case, let the SBU directly name them. The fact is that in Ukraine, all these radical ideas of ISIS and its like are not popular and widespread," Ismagilov claims.
He also noted that the militants hiding in Ukraine do not attend public events and "lie low".
"They hide and do not attend religious events and institutions. Most often, they, like the mentioned Al-Bara Shishani (a militant detained in Ukraine - ed.), hide in villages where there are no Muslims and mosques," Ismagilov added.
At the same time, former Deputy Chairman of the SBU Viktor Yahunov believes that the militants are going to Ukraine because there are "comfortable conditions", it is easier to get a residence permit. There are Muslim communities that you can rely on."
Recall that the Security Service of Ukraine is investigating in 11 criminal proceedings against 9 ISIS militants in Ukraine. Four people have already been sentenced.
