The Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia will host two “Reporting & Benefit Soirées” this fall under the theme “Growing the Good News.” These events aim to bring together clergy, benefactors, parishioners, and friends of the Archeparchy to reflect on the key milestones in ministry over the past year, strengthen community ties, and support the New Priest and Personnel Initiative.
This was reported in a press release from the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia, according to Vilni Media.
According to the organizers, the evenings will combine presentations on the Archeparchy’s programs, development, and ministry with a charitable component. The main charitable focus of this year’s events will be the New Priests and Personnel Initiative, which helps provide formation for clergy and lay leaders and covers the costs of their training, adaptation, and ministry in Ukrainian communities across the United States.
The organizers note that the evenings will provide an opportunity for friends, benefactors, clergy, and parishioners of the Archeparchy to learn about the results of the Archeparchy’s work in recent years, discover more about the Church’s pastoral, educational, and social programs, and support its continued development.
The Vicar General of the Archeparchy, Mitred Archpriest Peter Waslo, emphasized that today the Church is called not only to respond to contemporary challenges but also to build the future.
“In our 21st century, often marked by loneliness, uncertainty, division, and loss of meaning, the Good News is needed more than ever. As the Church, we are called not only to respond to the needs of today, but also to dream boldly about the future. By supporting the New Priest and Personnel Initiative, we can build this dream together. Every donation will help priests and lay leaders who serve our Church and accompany the faithful, strengthen our parishes and ministries, proclaim the Gospel, and carry the mission of the Archeparchy into the future,” noted the Archeparchy’s Vicar General.
Metropolitan Borys Gudziak, Head of the Archeparchy of Philadelphia in the United States, also extended an invitation to participate in the charity evenings.
“Dear parishioners and friends of the Philadelphia Archeparchy, allow me to invite you to the two reporting and benefit soirées that will be held on October 3 and October 17 in Whippany and Philadelphia. We would like to thank you for your loyalty, for your prayers, for your involvement, and for your work in and for the Archeparchy,” the metropolitan said.
According to him, during these events, the Archeparchy aims to report on what has been accomplished in recent years — “with joy, pride, transparency, but also humility,” since there is still much more to be done.
Metropolitan Borys Gudziak emphasized that this year’s events will be dedicated to strengthening the fund that supports new priests and staff. Specifically, this addresses rising visa and immigration costs, as well as the need to educate new leaders for church ministry.
“This effort is already very fruitful. We have 16 new clergy and an almost completely new staff at the Archeparchy. You have seen results — the communication, the ministry, the religious education, the outreach to our brothers and sisters in Ukraine. All of this is possible only with your help,” the metropolitan noted.
He urged the faithful and friends of the Archeparchy to engage, support the Church’s ministry in the United States, and contemplate their vision for the future of the Archeparchy.
The charity events will take place in Whippany, New Jersey, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The first event is scheduled for October 3 at the Ukrainian American Cultural Center of New Jersey, while the second one will be held on October 17 at Cathedral Hall.
Both events will begin at 5:30 p.m. local time and will feature a cocktail hour, a silent auction, and live music. Early registration is available until September 1.
Additionally, the event organizers are accepting donations to support and strengthen the ministry of the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia.
