On November 27th the Catholic Church, at the initiative of Pope Benedict XVI, dedicated a prayer for every conceived human life. The Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church joined the prayer. The head of the UGCC Patriarch Lubomyr stressed the importance and necessity of such prayer.

"Today the great evil is reigning the world, which is called abortion. Abortion is killing an unborn child. And today we gathered to pray for life, for the preservation of life, for God's help for all those who struggle with temptations to take the life of their children," the patriarch said during prayers of solidarity with the pope.

"Looking at our small prayer community one can ask: Are we able to confront this global trouble? Yes, we can! Our strength is in a prayer — a prayer that we dedicate to every conceived human life and the parents. They will not know that we prayed for them, but God's grace will fill their souls, their minds, and they make their choice in favor of life," said the patriarch.
