Ukrainian Church Figures Continue to Send Condolences to Polish People

Clergy and laity of the Kharkiv and Poltava Eparchy of the UAOC sent condolences to the Polish people on the tragic death of the Polish president, Bishop Tadeusz Plozki, Orthodox Archbishop Miron Chodakowski, and other members of the Polish delegation.

UKRAINEOn April 10, 2010, the clergy and laymen of the Kharkiv and Poltava Eparchy of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church (UAOC) sent condolences to the Polish people on the tragic death of the Polish president, Bishop Tadeusz Plozki, Orthodox Archbishop Miron Chodakowski, and members of the Polish delegation from the plane crash near Smolensk. On April 11, in the Church of St. Dmytrii of the UAOC of the eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, a memorial service was held for the repose of the victims. Similar services are to be held in the eparchy’s churches during the next few days.

The rector of the Ukrainian Catholic University, Fr. Borys Gudziak, Ph.D., sent a letter of condolences to the Polish people to the Polish Ambassador in Ukraine Jacek Kluczkowski.

Archbishop Ihor (Vozniak) of Lviv of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church sent a letter of condolences to the General Consulate of the Republic of Poland in Lviv.

The Senior Bishop of the Ukrainian Christian Evangelical Church Leonid Padun sent a letter of condolences on the plane crash to the Polish Ambassador Jacek Kluczkowski.
