Ukrainian religious leaders, who are the members of the Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations, met with the representatives of diplomatic offices from 7 foreign countries on October 6, reports the Institute for Religious Freedom, Kyiv.

Ukrainian religious leaders, who are the members of the Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations, met with the representatives of diplomatic offices from 7 foreign countries on October 6, reports the Institute for Religious Freedom, Kyiv.

The participants of the meeting on the occasion of 15th anniversary of the council included Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary – John Tefft (USA), G. Daniel Caron (Canada) and Jacques Faure (France), and also authorized representatives of the Republic of Poland, the State of Israel, the Federal Republic of Germany and the Apostolic Nunciature (Vatican).

Foreign diplomats positivly evaluated the Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations as a successful example of self-organization of the civil society. They highlighted the importance of the consolidated position of Ukrainian denominations in the development of democratic principles in Ukraine and the church-state dialogue, and commended the aspiration for overcoming corruption and establishing high moral values in society.
