Speaking about the unity of the church, the head of the UGCC noted that, from the theological viewpoint, to use this word in plural is nonsense, as the church is the body of Christ and is one.

“The church is the continuation in space and time of the mystery of the incarnation of the Divine and human nature in the body of Jesus Christ. In this way, the eternal and temporary was united. Therefore, in its supernatural dimension, there is only one church, which was fragmented for centuries in its human element. But from the beginning of its divisions, the church always looked for ways to unify. So, the church is a combination of the eternal and temporary, unity and plurality. And in the same, way, a combination of antiquity and youth,” said the head of the UGCC.
