Ukrainian Muslims strongly condemn the attack in Alexandria, which took the lives of 20 persons on January 1.

Ukrainian Muslims strongly condemn the attack in Alexandria, which took the lives of 20 persons on January 1. "It is a cruel attack which is an encroachment on the lives of innocent people and the inviolability of a temple and cannot be justified," reads the address of the Alraid All-Ukrainian Association of Public Organizations and the Umma Spiritual Directorate of Muslims of Ukraine.

The Muslims of Ukraine view this explosion as a "provocation aimed to sharpen the relations between the Christian and Muslim worlds."

"It is especially important now not to give way to it and to stay alert, for the list of the victims includes both Christians and Muslims as the nearby church and mosque were both damaged. The Christians and Muslims of Egypt have lived in peace for one thousand five hundred years. There is no doubt that the attack in Alexandria is aimed primarily against the unity of the Egyptian society. We call our Egyptian brothers, Muslims and Christians, to show their unity and solidarity in these difficult circumstances," reads the address.

The Muslims of Ukraine expressed condolences to the families of the victims.
