So stated the head of the Synodal Information and Educational Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate, Heorhii Kovalenko, reported Radio Freedom.

According to him, the Moscow Patriarchate initiates Orthodox educational projects in general education institutions of Ukraine and establishment in Kyiv of the Ukrainian Orthodox University of St. Volodymyr.

For that purpose, UOC-MP initiates changes to the Constitution of Ukraine and the Law of Ukraine “On Education” and intends to make amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On Freedom of Worship and Religious Organizations” and a number of other legislative acts “connected with the life of religious organizations and communities.”

According to Heorhii Kovalenko, “the Constitution of Ukraine allows one to freely profess one’s faith and spread the knowledge about it.”
