After a recent dangerous assault on Mount Everest, traveler from Zaporizhia Eparchy Father Fedir Koniukhov is starting on a new large-scale trip, reported Religion in Ukraine.

“Ten years ago I rowed across the Atlantic Ocean in a raft. Since then my conscience has tormented me because I also need to cross the Pacific Ocean. But the Atlantic is three thousand miles, and the Pacific is eight. I need another boat, a bigger and stronger one. I told friends in Chelyabinsk Oblast about this dream, and they supported me,” said Fr. Koniukhov, words which were published in the Chelyabinsk newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda.

He intends to leave from Chile and in 160-180 days make it to Australia. “No one has done this before, along the way lie thousands of islands, and I will always be tempted to stop and go on land. In the sea there is no time to think, the tactic is that one needs to constantly row. That is why I wrote a short journal while crossing the Atlantic. And on the new journey, other than supplies of food and water desalination, which is powered by solar panels, I'll bring the Gospel and fishing rods. Fishing is always pleasant and helpful,” said the priest.
