Ukrainian Population Shrinks to 45.8 Million in October

The population of Ukraine totaled 45.8 million as of Nov. 1, 2010, according to a posting on the website of the State Statistics Committee.

The population of Ukraine totaled 45.8 million as of November 1, 2010, according to a posting on the website of the State Statistics Committee, the Kyiv Post reports.

According to the committee, some 45.82 million people lived in Ukraine in September 2010.

The urban population of Ukraine was 31.45 million people as of November 1.

The country's population fell by 180,800 people in 2009.

Some 26,500 marriages and 11,200 divorces were registered in the country in January-October 2010. The marriage rate is 6.9 per 1,000 people, and the divorce rate is 2.9 per 1,000 people.

According to the latest population census conducted on December 5, 2001, 48,457,100 people lived in Ukraine.
