Ukrainians most trust the Pope and distrust Patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Kirill

Among church leaders, Pope Francis enjoys the highest trust of Ukrainians. Head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill is distrusted the most.

This is evidenced by a survey conducted by the Razumkov Center.

The question was asked about trust and distrust of the first hierarchs:

Pope Francis is trusted by 45.4% distrusted by 14.1%;

Metropolitan Epifaniy is trusted by 44.3%, distrusted by 15.8%;

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew is trusted by 32.1% and distrusted by 15.7%;

Metropolitan Onufriy of Kyiv and all Ukraine (UOC-MP) enjoys the trust of 31.9% and is distrusted by 26%;

Archbishop Sviatoslav of Kyiv and Halych (UGCC) is trusted by 29.3% and distrusted by 16.3%;

Patriarch Filaret of Kyiv and all Rus-Ukraine is trusted by 29.3% and distrusted by 25.1%;

Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Russia (ROC MP) is trusted by 15% and distrusted by 44.7%.

 

The survey was conducted from October 1 to October 8 throughout Ukraine, except for the temporarily occupied territories. Two thousand twenty people aged 18 and over were interviewed. The margin of error is not more than 2.3%. The survey was conducted with the support of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation Representative Office in Ukraine.
