10.08.2021, 09:34

Uman mayor Irina Pletniova said that this year up to 50 thousand Hasidic pilgrims are expected for the Jewish New Year (Rosh Ha-Shanah).

It is worth noting that last year in Uman, where the grave of tzaddik Rabbi Nachman is located, which is visited annually by Bratslav Hasidim, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, there were much fewer pilgrims - about 3,000 people, that is, 15 times less, JewishNews reports.

In addition, Irina Pletnyova said that about 3 million hryvnias will be allocated from the city budget: to ensure the uninterrupted and proper operation of public utilities that are engaged in garbage collection, ensure the functioning of water supply, sewerage, electricity and elevators.

Local residents note that in Uman, a month before the date of the Rosh Hashanah celebration there are already quite a few Hasidim.
