UNESCO is ready to include the Pochayiv Monastery in the of the World Heritage List. According to the foreign experts, the Ukrainian government must initiate the process officially for it to happen.

This question was raised before UNESCO by the opposition politicians from Ternopil, reported ZIK.

According to the local deputies who approached UNESCO, the inclusion of the monastery in the list of the World Heritage would settle the issue of a possible transfer thereof to one denomination.

Last February, the Kyiv deputies proposed to exclude the Pochayiv Monastery and a few other ones from the list of  monuments of state importance and to transfer them to the Moscow Patriarchate.

According to experts in architecture from Ternopil, it does not matter for UNESCO who the owner of the monument is and the procedure of its inclusion in the list may last for years.
