UNESCO verified damage to more than 400 cultural sites in Ukraine

UNESCO has verified more than 400 different cultural sites in Ukraine being damaged by Russia and established the extent of the damage.

This was stated by the head of the UNESCO Office in Ukraine, Chiara Bardeschi, during a speech at the international conference "Protection of Cultural Heritage and Countering Cultural Erasure in Armed Conflict: New Challenges and Ukraine's Experience," Ukrinform reports.

"UNESCO, in cooperation with UNOSAT, analyzes satellite images daily to confirm the extent of the damage throughout the country. As of today, more than 400 different cultural sites have been confirmed damaged," Bardeski stated.

She added that UNESCO experts can confirm the fact of damage and the extent of the damage.

"This is the starting point for providing recovery support," said the head of the UNESCO Office in Ukraine.
