The construction of the world's only amber church is to be completed in the village of Dmytrivka of Lugan Region in a year's time. The ground floor of the church has already been officially opened.
The Church has received the name of Panteleimon the Healer due to the healing properties of amber.
The celebratory Liturgy on occasion of the opening of the ground floor of the church was attended by believers from the whole region and the ex-president of the Republic of Ingushetia, Ruslan Aushev.
The construction of the church began 8 years ago. People from all over the world come to see the unique church. It is visited by over 150 guests on some days.
Experts from Rivne worked on the iconostasis for three years. The builders chose the amber of the Rivne deposit as it has wider range of colours than the Polish or Kaliningrad amber. The iconostasis , particularly, its doors are covered with gold leaf.
It is planned to build also a small orphanage and women's monastery in the territory of the church
